A Prayer for Today

Lord Jesus, as I prepare for Easter during this Lenten season, I turn to you once again in prayer. I believe that you are my creator and that you have created me to know, love and serve you. I believe that you want to help me fulfill my purpose in life; that is why you came to earth to suffer and die. I offer you my prayer today as a small token of my gratitude, a small token of my desire to live my life for you. I know that sometimes I can let things get between us. Now, during this time of prayer, I want to give all my attention to you so that you – and not my egoism or passions – may govern my life choices.

"Lord Jesus, teach me to love your ways that I may be quick to renounce sin and wilfulness in my life. Make me whole and clean again that I may I delight to do your will."

Psalm 42:2-4

My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.  When shall I come
     and behold the face of God?
My tears have been my food day and night,
     while men say to me continually, "Where is your God?"
These things I remember, as I pour out my soul: how I went with the throng,
and led them in procession to the house of God,
     with glad shouts and songs of thanksgiving,
     a multitude keeping festival.

Psalm 43:3-4

Oh send out your light and your truth; let them lead me,
     let them bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling!
Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy;
     and I will praise you with the lyre, O God, my God
.
