Thoughts for Today

While reading through the liturgy for today the second reading really captured me, here it is again,

Second Reading
Colossians 3:1-5, 9-11

Brothers and sisters: If you were raised with Christ, seek what is above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Think of what is above, not of what is on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ your life appears, then you too will appear with him in glory.

Put to death, then, the parts of you that are earthly: immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and the greed that is idolatry. Stop lying to one another, since you have taken off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed, for knowledge, in the image of its creator. Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all and in all.

I really liked this passage and reread it many times. Simple yet powerful, think of heaven and what can be ours and not the possessions we have on here on earth. Reflecting on a lost life I remember how many times I would work late thinking I was doing good for my family and getting ahead. Certainly it is always the opposite the time you lose with your loved ones are irreplaceable and then there is all the time not going to church to the House of our Lord! This is definitely irreplaceable and it really bothers me to know how much I did miss out in my life and the real wealth I missed by not going to mass or taking my faith seriously.

Did I get further ahead? No in fact I fell behind and it is hard to catch up! (but I am working on it!) Take care and God Bless!
