Helping Out

Well with Father B off to another parish and us left with a temporary retired priest we have been left scrambling.
Father E who is somewhere in his early 80's has stepped in to do mass but the parish is on its own for now. We have a small group now working together to get the bulletin out and I have volunteered to get the presentation for the slides during mass that have the hymns and certain parts that Father B wanted up of the mass for the parishioners to be able to follow along. So now I am scrambling to learn power point get some Hungarian translations etc for the presentation. Thank God for copy and paste as this has been a big help.
The mass for Sunday is ready and now all I have to do is load it onto the church computer. I guess in tough times we have to work together to keep things going and for me it is a pleasure to help!

Back Safe and Sound!

Yes I am back all be it reluctantly as the Gulf Island we were on in Florida was absolutely beautiful! The weather as can be imagined was also great. Into the low 90's every day and sunny. Had one 1/2 day with some rain. It was great on the island and yes life is lived at a different pace on the island. It was like being in a tropical paradise.
The other part of our trip was the drive down. I know today people are in a hurry and most would have flown down and rented a car instead of driving the 1400 or so miles through the United States but I love the automotive form of travel as you see much more and you get to see and meet people. Going down we went through the majestic scenery of West Virginia and Virginia and coming back we went through Tennessee and Kentucky which are equally if not more beautiful and the people no matter where we were were friendly and honest. For those of you who would not drive from Ontario to Florida think it over you miss some of the most beautiful scenery on this planet don't rush life enjoy what the Lord has provided for us!!!
Today back to our home parish and my wife is reading today and we hope to find out who the new parish priest will be or at least find out when he will be arriving from Hungary. I am still trying to recover from the moving on of Father B. No matter who comes my wife and I are both ready to keep helping in anyway possible.
AS for work well let's just say my prayers were answered as I have been called in next week to work and yes it is paid for!!!
All I can say in a synopsis of the trip my parish and work is that God has been and is listening and always there beside me. Take Care until next time.

Sunday Reading for July 26 2009

7th Sunday in Ordinary Time

1st Reading: 2 K 4:42-44
A man came from Baal-shalishad bringing bread and wheat to the man of God. These were from the first part of the harvest, twenty loaves of barley and wheat. Elisha told him, "Give the loaves to these men that they may eat."
His servant said to him, "How am I to divide these loaves among one hundred men?" Elisha insisted, "Give them to the men that they may eat, for Yahweh says: They shall eat and have some left over." So the man set it before them; and they ate and had some left, as Yahweh had said.

Responsorial Psalm
Ps 145:10-11, 15-16, 17-18

R. (cf. 16) The hand of the Lord feeds us; he answers all our needs.
Let all your works give you thanks, O LORD,
and let your faithful ones bless you.
Let them discourse of the glory of your kingdom
and speak of your might.
R. The hand of the Lord feeds us; he answers all our needs.
The eyes of all look hopefully to you,
and you give them their food in due season;
you open your hand
and satisfy the desire of every living thing.
R. The hand of the Lord feeds us; he answers all our needs.
The LORD is just in all his ways
and holy in all his works.
The LORD is near to all who call upon him,
to all who call upon him in truth.
R. The hand of the Lord feeds us; he answers all our needs.

2nd Reading: Eph 4:1-6
I, the prisoner of Christ, invite you to live the vocation you have received. Be humble, kind, patient, and bear with one another in love.
Make every effort to keep among you the unity of Spirit through bonds of peace. Let there be one body and one spirit, for God, in calling you, gave the same Spirit to all. One Lord, one faith, one baptism. One God, the Father of all, who is above all and works through all and is in all.

Gospel: Jn 6:1-15
Jesus went to the other side of the Sea of Galilee, near Tiberias, and large crowds followed him because of the miraculous signs they saw when he healed the sick. So he went up into the hills and sat down there with his disciples. Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was at hand.
Then lifting up his eyes, Jesus saw the crowds that were coming to him and said to Philip, "Where shall we buy bread so that these people may eat?" He said this to test Philip, for he himself knew what he was going to do. Philip answered him, "Two hundred silver coins would not buy enough bread for each of them to have a piece."
Then one of Jesus' disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, said, "There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish; but what good are these for so many?"
Jesus said, "Make the people sit down." There was plenty of grass there so the people, about five thousand men, sat down to rest. Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks and distributed them to those who were seated. He did the same with the fish and gave them as much as they wanted. And when they had eaten enough, he told his disciples, "Gather up the pieces left over, that nothing may be lost."
So they gathered them up and filled twelve baskets with bread, that is with pieces of the five barley loaves left by those who had eaten.
When the people saw this sign that Jesus had just given, they said, "This is really the Prophet, he who is to come into the world." Jesus realized that they would come and take him by force to make him king; so he fled to the hills by himself.

On the road again!

Sorry about not getting the Sunday reading up but time was very short. This past Monday we took off by car to Florida which for us is a 22 hour journey. We have broken the trip into 2 days so we do not completely kill ourselves.
We arrived yesterday at our destination on Anna Maria Island in Florida so today we start to absorb the island life.
A lot of changes at my parish as Father B has left and he dropped the bomb on us at the end of mass this past Sunday. I will get more details when I get back home but it really hit me as I had a close bond with him. Will be interesting times with a new priest from Hungary on his way.
Lot to do and I will catch up on all once back.
I will say this God does amazing things as we travelled through Canada and down through the States it truly is amazing how beautiful the land is and the people. Even last night at marvelled at the star lit night sky and saw how amazing god is!!!
Take care!!

More to come!

Things are not getting better at work and the worst thing about it is I am not sure of the boss really cares. It seems that as long as he has money to keep up his imaginary millionaire lifestyle he does not care about the rest of us. One coworker was alleged by the bosses for lack of performance and was told he was going to be written up and have the report in his file. It appears they want to justify a long time employee's firing.
Not sure what is going on as the sales staff has lots of quotes but never does them on time nor do they ever follow up.
The worst out of this is that we us being told that we have to close down for a week with no pay the boss brings in his daughter's boyfriend to work and he is getting paid. Seems we are being fed a line of BS to save the boss a big chunk of money!
Only good thing is one more week and then off to Florida for vacation. Of course I would not have gone had I known earlier that we were going to close down but it was too late and would have cost money to cancel the reservations at the resort. We will be more prudent with the money and cut back on what we do but the time off will help me relax. When we return I will dedicate the week off to finding work where the environment is more stable. Even my suppliers are surprised that we are not busy as our competitors are picking up. Lots of prayers are needed by all and especially by myself but the Lord has been good to me in guiding me through this difficult time!

14thSunday in Ordinary Time

1stReading: Ezk 2:2-5
A spirit came upon me as he spoke and kept me standing and then I heard him speak,
"Son of man, I am sending you to the Israelites, to a people who have rebelled against me; they and their fathers have sinned against me to this day. Now I am sending you to these defiant and stubborn people to tell them `this is the Lord Yahweh's word.'
So, whether they listen or not this set of rebels will know there is a prophet among them.

Psalm123:1-4

1To thee I lift up my eyes, O thou who art enthroned in the heavens!
2 Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the LORD our God, till he have mercy upon us.
3Have mercy upon us, O LORD, have mercy upon us, for we have had more than enough of contempt.
4 Too long our soul has been sated with the scorn of those who are at ease, the contempt of the proud.

2ndReading: 2 Cor 12:7-10
However, I better give up lest somebody think more of me than what is seen in me or heard from me. Lest I become proud after so many and extraordinary revelations, I was given a thorn in my flesh,a true messenger of Satan, to slap me in the face. Three times prayed to the Lord that it leave me, but he answered, "My grace isenough for you; my great strength is revealed in weakness."
Gladly, then, will I boast of my weakness that the strength of Christ may be mine. So I rejoice when I suffer infirmities, humiliations, want, persecutions: all for Christ! For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Gospel:Mk 6:1-6
Jesus returned to his own country, and his disciples followed him. When the Sabbath came, he began teaching in the synagogue, and most of those who heard him were astonished. They commented, "How did this come to him? What kind of wisdom has been given to him that he also performs such miracles? Who is he but the carpenter, the son of Mary and the brother of James and Joset and Judas and Simon? His sisters, too, are they not here among us?" So they took offense at him.
And Jesus said to them, "Prophets are despised only in their own country, among their relatives and in their own family." And he could work no miracles there, but only healed a few sick people by laying his hands on them. Jesus himself was astounded at their unbelief.
